The Company maintains a ZERO TOLERANCE standard where the use of drugs and consumption of alcohol by seagoing personnel is concerned.
The purchase, manufacture, possession, use, distribution or sale of illicit or unprescribed drugs by on-board personnel is expressly forbidden during their tenure of employment with the Company. Substances such as, but not limited to, marijuana, cocaine, phencyclidine (PCP) and amphetamines are included in this total ban which, if violated, is grounds for immediate termination of employment.
The purchase, manufacture, possession, consumption, distribution or sale of alcoholic spirits on board Company-managed vessels is not allowed and is grounds for immediate termination of employment.
Seafarers are hereby warned that the Company cooperates fully with police and all appropriate authorities in the prosecution of any person using, possessing or trafficking in drugs or other illegal substances.
In order to ensure compliance with this ZERO TOLERANCE policy,
the Company has adopted a program of testing and screening, including random and unannounced drug/alcohol testing, in addition to routine pre-employment medical examinations.
Alcohol impairment upon boarding a Company-managed vessel is defined as a blood alcohol content of 40 mg/100ml or greater (i.e. 04 on the breathalyzer).
This policy is to be read, understood and signed by all crew members prior to joining a Company-managed vessel.
A copy of this policy is hereby posted in the Head Office and on board all Company-managed vessels.
